In this age of 24-hour rolling
news and almost instant communication, stories can break and
be on the screens of viewers around the world with frightening
speed.
Faced with what seems like a voracious
and predatory media, many organisations seek to keep them
at arm’s length, or worse, try to ignore them and hope
they will go away.
Yet like the weather, the media is
a fact of life. They should not be regarded as a threat, but
as an opportunity. Just as a military commander uses the weather
to his advantage, organisations that engage with the media
almost always benefit.
MILITARY
GRADE MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES
The British Army’s reputation
remains second to none as the most professional and well-trained
Army in the world. That reputation is founded on a robust,
proactive spirit that values courage and initiative in equal
measure. It also relies on a unique and well-proven approach
to communications.
The Army calls it Media Operations, a proactive
approach to media communications that remains focused on achieving
a successful end-state. This emphasises looking for opportunity,
even in the face of the gravest crisis.
The Perdix team has been at the heart of
developing the Army’s Media Operations skills over the
past ten years. Members of the Company wrote the original
concept and have delivered it in operational theatres from
the fields of Cumbria to the jungles of Sierra Leone.
We know about perceptions and reputations.
We have faced the media in good times and in bad, and we have
advised the most senior levels of government and the leaders
of British industry.
